EXAMINATION RESULTS

The MBBS degree is an unclassified degree.  Students are however awarded distinctions in any subject where they scored 70% and above at the first sitting.  But generally, the MBBS degree is awarded as PASS.

100 Level Examination Results

  1. A candidate who passes all the four Principal subjected at least C grade and above will proceed to the next level.
  2. A Candidate who fails in any one of the four principal subjects at lower than C grade will be required to repeat the year.
  3. A candidate who fails all the four principal subjects will be required to withdraw from the faculty.

 200 Level

  1. A candidate who passes all the 5 courses at least C grade and above will proceed to the next level.
  2. A candidate who fail in one two courses shall be required to resit them.  If the candidate fails any course at the resit examination he will be required to repeat the year of study in all the courses.
  3. A candidate who at the first attempt fails 3 courses will be required to repeat the year.
  4. A candidate fails in 4 or more courses at his first attempt will be required to withdraw from the faculty.
  5. A repeat student who fails any of the subjects at the examination would be required to withdraw from the program; there would be no opportunity for resit for a repeating student.

300 Level

  1. A candidate who passes all the 3 courses at least C grade and above will proceed to the next level.
  2. A candidate who fails in any one course shall be required to resit.  If the candidate fails the course at the resit examination he/she will be required to repeat the year of study in all the courses.
  3. A candidate at the first attempt fail 2 courses will be required to repeat the year.
  4. A candidate who fails in all the 3 courses at his first attempt will be required to withdraw from the faculty.
  5. A repeat student who fails any of the subjects at the examination would be required to withdraw from the program; there would be no opportunity for resit for a repeating student.

400 Level

  1. A candidate who passes all the courses will proceed to the 500 level.
  2. A candidate who fails in any course at this level shall be required to resit all the courses.
  3. A candidate who fails in any of the resit courses has a chance of repeating the course.
  4. A repeat student who fails any of the subjects at the examination would be required to withdraw from the program; there would be no opportunity for resit for a repeating student.
  5. A candidate shall normally be allowed 3 attempts; any subsequent attempt shall be with the permission of the Senate on the recommendation of the Faculty Board.

 500 Level (Part VA)

  1. A candidate who passes all the courses will proceed to the final level.  
  2. A candidate who fails in any course at this level shall be required to resit the referred course(s).
  3. A candidate who fails in any of the referred course(s) shall repeat the Class.
  4. A candidate shall normally be allowed a total of 3 attempts; any subsequent attempt shall be with the permission of the Senate on the recommendation of the faculty Board.

 600 Level (Part VB)

  1. A candidate who passes in all the subjects shall graduate as a Doctor.
  2. A candidate who fails in any course at this level shall be required to resit the referred course(s).
  3. A candidate who fails in any of the referred course(s) shall repeat the class.
  4. A candidate shall normally be allowed a total of 3 attempts; any subsequent attempt shall be with the permission of the Senate on the recommendation of the faculty Board.

 

Note:  These Part V A and Part V B examination will in addition to theory paper include clinical (bed side) and oral examinations. A candidate must pass in the clinical examination to achieve an overall pass in the course.
