Sports, Recreation and Welfare Facilities

The University offers a wide variety of sporting, social and recreational facilities – athletic field, football pitch, hockey pitch cricket pitch, basketball court, tennis courts, swimming pool gymnasium or indoor games, etc.  Do not sit idle; involve yourself in sporting activities for physical fitness and sound health. Ahmadu Bello University has produced sports men and women of both national and international reputes, why not join the roll call?

Accommodation and Hall of Residence

There are 15 halls of residence in ABU, accommodating about 12,000 students.  The hall are: Ribadu/Alex and Amina (female students of the Main campus); Sardauna/Bedde and Hostels I, II and IV (for female students of the Kongo Campus); Danfodio, ICSA, Ramat and Umar Suleiman (for male students on the Main Campus) and Ali Akilu, Tafawa and Hostel III (for male students at Kongo Campus); Aliyu Mustafa at Shika (for male medical students and Asmau Mustafa at Shika (for female medical students.

Health Facilities

The University Sick Bay is functional and fully equipped to deal with minor injuries and illnesses and it is affiliated with ABUTH in Shika-Zaria which deals with major cases. All students are required to register with the University Health Services which provides 24 hour services including week ends.

ABUMSA

The Ahmadu Bello University Medical Students Association came into existence in November, 1967.  ABUMSA is chiefly a professional and academic association of all ABU Medical students, which primarily seek to project and protect the image of her students as well as to cater for their welfare among other things.

The association is affiliated to several medical professional bodies, national and international; It is being run by an Executive Council (EXCO whose members are elected annually.
